在温尼科特的理论中，False Self（假自体/假自我）指个体为了适应环境（尤其是早期照料者）而发展出的“顺从性人格结构”。
当婴儿的真实需要得不到满足“足够好的母亲”（good-enough mother）的回应时，孩子会：压抑真实感受、过度适应环境、发展出迎合性的自我，这个适应性结构就是false self。
它的功能：保护真实自我（ture self), 帮助个体在不安全环境中生存。但代价是空虚感，不真实感，“活着却不想自己在活”。
